Two sets of office hours now available!

Fresh off the heels of our AlphaLab Information Night, we now have two new sets of office hours available for registration! The dates are Thursday, October 6th from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM and Monday, October 17th from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM each with 20 minute appointment slots. The 20 minutes can be used for you to share information about your company/product and/or ask questions about the AlphaLab application or program.

We’re using ohours.org for scheduling and you can find our profiles here:

We are using two profiles so that we can have members of our team meet with more than one prospective applicant simultaneously. We encourage you to follow both these profiles so you know when we announce new office hours.

Winter/Spring 2012 applications are now being accepted!

We’re excited to announce that today heralds the opening of the Winter/Spring 2012 application cycle for AlphaLab! You can now start working on your product/concept submissions by filling out our online form.

Along with the opening of the application cycle, we’re planning on having several opportunities for you to learn about the program, see the AlphaLab space, and engage the members of the AlphaLab Team. We will be hosting an AlphaLab Information Night later this month and have office hours throughout September and October in different locations throughout the area.

This Friday – Final Office Hours for AlphaLab Summer/Fall 2011 App Cycle!

With our application deadline in sight (next Monday, April 4th!) and due to high demand, we’ve added an additional set of office hours this coming Friday, April 1st. The twist is that they will be happening in three separate locations over the course of the day – Oakland (Kiva Han), AlphaLab, and Coffee Tree Roasters in Bakery Square. Here are the times/locations with links:

Due to demand, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve added additional office hours with the AlphaLab team  next week! The dates/times of those hours are:

Monday, March 28th starting at 10:00

Thursday, March 31st starting at 2:00

Summer/Fall 2011 Applications Now Being Accepted!

We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for the Summer/Fall 2011 session of AlphaLab! The deadline for submitting your application is 11:59 PM on Monday, April 4th, 2011.

We will again be holding “office hours” that will allow applicants to meet the AlphaLab team and ask questions about the program and the application process. The following dates are currently scheduled:

  • Monday, February 28th 2:00 – 4:00 PM
  • Friday, March 11th 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Thursday, March 24th 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Two slots are available for each 20-minute time period. If a particular slot is grayed out, it has already been reserved. Please limit your team to one slot per application period.

Additional Office Hours Added for Winter/Spring 2011 Applications!

We’ve added two additional office hour sessions for our current application cycle!

On Monday, October 18th from 1:30 – 3:30 PM, we will be hosting office hours on October 18th on the campus of CMU at Project Olympus’s office at 4620 Henry Street, 1st floor . Your slot can be reserved here.

We’ll also be hosting additional office hours at the AlphaLab space on 2325 E. Carson on Monday, October 24th from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Slots can be reserved here.

  • Thursday, October 14th 12:00 – 2:00 PM

All About ShowClix

Recently, Innovation Works portfolio company ShowClix has been in the news quite a bit. First, founder Josh Dziabiak was named by Inc. Magazine as one of the top “30 Under 30 Entrepreneurs” for 2010. Here’s the brief video posted by Inc.:

Not long after, local Pittsburgh station KDKA did a story that not only features Josh and fellow founder Lynsie Camuso, but also the legendary cereal wall.

Most recently, Lynsie was interviewed by Mixergy and tells the ShowClix story and how it came to be the company it is today.

AlphaLab company Shoefitr wins global pitch competition!

Last week, members of the Pittsburgh startup community gathered at AlphaLab to participate in This Week in Startup’s second international pitch contest. Several pitches were presented before the actual show’s start at 2:00 PM Eastern, and Shoefitr was selected as the Pittsburgh representative.

At the end of the show Jason and Lon selected Shoefitr as the winner of the pitch contest! Here’s their pitch:
